2014/15 Season Highlights!

Hard to believe the season has just about come to an end! It seems like just yesterday we were scraping off the travel wax at Copper Mountain.

Looking back, it's been a truly incredible season. Last year we had 11 athletes participate in Winter Term, this season 23 talented young folks took advantage of sessions of one month or more.

Here's a fun look back at some of our season highlights!

Lastly, we'd like to thank all of the NYSEF tutors, coaches, and the great folks at the OTC in Lake Placid for all of their support throughout the season. Lots of folks played a part in making this winter such a success-- thank you!

Don't forget, updated application and program description for next season's Winter Term have been updated and are due June 15th.

Have a great off-season and stay in touch!

Our Final Week of Winter Term!

Hard to believe that the final week has arrived! It seems like just yesterday that we were gearing up for athletes to arrive at Copper Mountain in Colorado. It's really been an amazing season-- wrap up post to come soon!

For now, here are some fun photos of recent Winter Term happenings;

Julia Schneider took 3rd place in the Women's Pro Skier-Cross competition at Mt Snow last weekend. Holy awesome! Congratulations Julia, we miss you already!
We're hosting the USSA U16 Eastern Championships this week. Weather on Monday was amazing-- congratulations to Hanna and Blake on their strong finishes!
Roomies! Lily made it to today's GS races. She passed on some of that Silverstein MoJo to Hanna... who landed herself in the top- 10 today!
NYSEF U14's tore it up at the NYS U14 Champs held at Gore two weekends ago. JoJo, Inez, Hugh, Sarah and Andrea qualified for Eastern Champs and did really well... way to go U14's!
Fun shot of the Moguls crew at Eastern A Champs at Waterville. Emma, Jake and Brett did awesome and are off at Nationals now.. good luck team!
A look at Monday's Super-G course. Gulp! In awesome shape, thanks NYSEF Race Crew, volunteers and event organizers!
Did we mention that NYSEF, ORDA and Saint Lawrence University co-hosted NCAA Championships in XC and Alpine? It was an amazing opportunity for all of our kids to witness some seriously high-level skiing, and to see some of the planet's finest student athletes in action.

Catch all the event recaps and highlights on the NCAA Skiing website.

Also, our Nordic Winter Term crew just returned from an awesome week of racing at Junior Nationals in Truckee. Catch the awesome highlight video produced by the Auburn Ski Club to see how the races went:

That's it for now-- stay tuned for the end-of-season recap!

After a long wait... spring has arrived!

After months of frigid temps, balmy temperatures have once again arrived in the Adirondacks! And with the arrival of spectacular sunshine and warm weather, we've also received our first Winter Term Snowboard athlete-- welcome Anthony Russo to the team!

He seems to have adjusted to life here at Winter Term pretty well... did we mention the Slides are open?!

U14's on a roll!

Winter Term and NYSEF U14's are on an absolute roll down at Gore Mountain this weekend at States!

U14 GS State Champs podium: 3rd: Andrea Reynolds, 2nd: Joanna Rosenbluth, 1st: Inez Burkard        Photo credit: Julie Simmons

Ironically, this was the EXACT SAME podium order as the Lake Placid Winter Term International Toboggan Championship which took place on Mirror Lake two weeks ago...

Moral of the story? Teammates who toboggan together... tear it up at States together!

NYSEF/Whiteface/Gore U14's fared well in yesterday's Super-G as well... Joanna Rosenbluth in 5th, Inez Burkard in 4th, Sarah Coombs in 3rd and Andrea Reynolds in 2nd.

Keep up the good work team!

Team.

"When it all boils down to it, ski racing is an individual sport," they say. "It's just you against the clock."

Right?

Nope.

False.

In this game there are ups and downs. Highs and lows. But one thing's for sure-- during those times when you're down, it really helps to have an awesome team to bring you balloons, sweatpants and chocolate.

You'd better watch out for Lily, because yesterday she was really on top of a Super-G training run during her second-best racing season ever...when she caught an edge.

Her second-best, you say?

Yup. She's currently on day one of her best season ever. Heal up quick Lily and don't worry, you've got a whole team rooting for you on this one!

Winter Term Freeride Footage Fiesta!

The Winter Term Skier-X and Slopestyle teams have really been getting after it lately, and thanks to some spectacular conditions in the Park and at the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex (thanks ORDA & Whiteface Park crews!) they've been able to really uncork some new tricks.

Check it out:

Julia finally nailed her first front flip on snow... awesome!

Gavin getting after it at the Olympic Ski Jumps with a left-360 tail grab to late shifty

Avery laid down this front-4 off cinquo de kinko... huge!

High-five.

Keep up the awesome work team!

Late-Season Photo Frenzy!

It's getting to be that time of the season... where the sun's actually shining at 7:45 when we roll up to the mountain and where the weeks of Winter Term start ticking by faster than chapters in a E.L. James novel. It's amazing how the season has flown, and we've now found ourselves now in the thick of championship season.

What a few weeks it's been! Here's a photo frenzy to keep you up to speed:
